Community Outreach

The Community Outreach Program grew out of our efforts to celebrate the first National Day on Writing in 2009. Coordinated by TC Leah Claron, the Community Outreach Program is intended to meet the writing needs of the community by developing programs such as the annual summer Writing Marathon and the Capital Region Authors’ Night. Leah facilitates a committee of CDWP teachers to create new programs to connect the community together through writing.

If you are a CDWP teacher and are interested in being part of the Community Outreach Committee, or if you have an idea for a community program that you would like CDWP to sponsor, contact Leah Claron at lmclaron@yahoo.com, or contact CDWP at cdwp@albany.edu.

2011 Writing Marathon

The 2011 CDWP Writing Marathon will be held in Saratoga Springs, NY, on Sunday, July 17th. Participants will meet at the Saratoga Public Library at 12:00 noon. From there, participants will move to various locations around the city, pausing at each location to write.

The CDWP Writing Marathon is free of charge and open to anyone. Its purpose is to provide a unique opportunity to explore and celebrate writing. Participants need only bring a notebook, a favorite pen, and a willingness to write.

Participants may come in groups or alone. If you come alone, we can place you in a group of new friends. Maps of Saratoga Springs will be provided.

For information, contact Leah Claron at 518-429-6386 or lmclaron@yahoo.com.
