Teacher Research Interest Group (TRIG)
Now in its third year, the Teacher Research and Inquiry Group (TRIG) supports reflective thought about teaching by providing a forum for inquiry that propels teachers to think more deeply about their practice. At TRIG meetings, participants discuss what they observe about student writing in their classrooms in order to begin a more focused personal inquiry about the causes and conditions surrounding this writing. They examine relevant readings to stimulate thinking about teaching and learning, share ideas about what they are seeing in their classrooms, and consider next steps in their individual and shared inquiry. The group, which includes teachers from all grade levels and different content areas, meets about every six weeks throughout the school year and offers a half-day workshop to share its work with other CDWP teachers. TC Christopher Mazura, who established the group in 2008, is coordinator.
